One of my favorite Akon jams is Lonely. I thought this picture made Akon look like he was lonely. I really think that Akon is going to be one of the big names in music for a long time to come. EA Sports is apparently going to use Akon, The Diplomats, and Dilated Peoples for the soundtrack of their next release of Fight Night, Round 3. According to SOHH, the new video game will feature 12 songs, all of which will be performed by rap artists. Pretty sweet.

Akon is going to hook up with other local artists according to Australia’s Daily News. Akon is scheduled to head to Africa next week to record a song with Ladysmith Black Mambazo. LBM has won a grammy, in case you don’t know or have not heard of them. LBM is big time and I have some of their music. This is a great step for Akon. Apparently, Akon is also heading to Africa to sign another artist according to the article. I really need to learn more about the music “business.” Is it about making music or making money? Didn’t Akon just put his first album out. I have to get to the bottom of this.

The internet is really a cool thing. I mean, how else would you or I be able to read about Akon news in Jamaica or some other place around the world? Anyway, I think it is really cool, even if you don’t. But, I was checking out a write-up in the Jamaica Observer that covered many of today’s top acts. Young Jeezy and Akon were mentioned for their hotter than hot, Soul Survivor. When asked aobut how Jeezy came up with the idea for the song, he said, “Soul Survivor is a job well done. I hooked up with Akon and told him that I wanted a club banger for the streets and it just happened.”

Young Jeezy’s Soul Survivor (featuring Akon) is still topping the chars this week.

Chris Brown begins his first month on top of the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart as his single, “Run It!,” maintains its No. 1 spot on the Hot 100 for the fourth consecutive week. His self titled album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 albums chart this week.

Hot on Brown’s heels is D4L’s “Laffy Taffy,” which jumps from No. 4 to No. 2 while Kanye West’s “Gold Digger” (featuring Jamie Foxx) drops to No. 3. Nickelback’s “Photograph” jumps from No. 6 to No. 4 and Young Jeezy’s “Soul Survivor” (featuring Akon) rounds out the top five.
